Leisure and activities

Besides a barbecue and picnic area, green children’s playground, bowling ground, tennis court and stadium, Saint-Génis-des Fontaines offers its visitors nearby river fishing, hunting, rambling, mountain biking and horse riding.

A cycling lane passing though Saint-Genis links Argeles to Le Boulou.

Tuesday & Friday mornings regional products are displayed on the market. The coop wine cellar and two private cellars beckon you to wine tastings.

The numerous and active societies of the Commune organize year round numerous activities, most often in partnership with the town and Tourist Office.

Laroque is the starting point to numerous walking trails in the Albères Mountain. A few of them are listed on a brochure outlining the different levels of fitness required.  Brochures can be downloaded from Laroque’s Townhall website or collected from the Cloister/Tourist Office.

One can also discover “Notre Dame du Château” with its superb panorama overlooking Sorède village (departing from Sorède or “la Vallée Heureuse”).

More trans border walks can be found on the l'Association "Albera Viva" website.

La Communauté de Commune Albères/Côte Vermeille has marked out the “Sentier Littoral”, shore trail, from the Mas Larrieu  reserve to the Spanish border; a leaflet can be purchased from the Cloister/tourist Office** reception desk.
